Privacy Policy

Learning Camp (“Learning Camp,” “we,” “us”) is a learning app for children in grades 1–5, operated by The Trellis Studio LLC. We built Learning Camp to be safe for kids: we collect as little as possible, we do not show ads, and we never sell your data. This policy explains what we collect and why. It is written for parents and guardians, who create and control every account.

Learning Camp is intended for use in the United States. We do not target or knowingly serve users outside the U.S.

Who uses Learning Camp

Only a parent or guardian can create an account and set up a child profile. Children use the app under the account and supervision of that parent or guardian. Children cannot sign up on their own, cannot enter free-form text (names, messages, or chat), and cannot reach billing or account settings, which sit behind a parent PIN.

What we collect

From the parent/guardian:

• Email address and login — handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). We store your email to identify your account and send essential service messages.
• Billing information — if you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we keep only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status.
• Time zone — to calculate daily streaks correctly.

About the child:

• A first name or nickname that you enter (please do not enter a full name), a chosen avatar, and a grade level (1–5).
• Learning activity — quiz answers, stars earned, streaks, badges, and game scores, used to run the app and show you progress.

We do notcollect a child's birthdate, full name, photo, address, phone number, precise location, or any contact information for the child.

What we do NOT do

• We do not show advertising to children or anyone else.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
• We do not use behavioral tracking, ad networks, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics on children.
• We do notsend a child's information to AI services. Audio narration is generated ahead of time from our own question text — never from your child's data.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Learning Camp complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because a parent or guardian creates the account, sets up the child profile, and (for paid plans) completes a payment, we obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting the limited information described above. As the parent, you can review your child's information, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection at any time by deleting the child profile or your account, or by contacting us. We collect only information reasonably necessary for the activity and never condition participation on disclosing more than is needed.

How we use information

• To provide the app: run quests, track progress, award stars, badges, and streaks.
• To manage your account, subscription, and billing.
• To respond to messages you send us.
• To keep the service secure and working, and to comply with law.

Service providers we use

We share data only with vendors that help us run the app, under their own security and privacy obligations:

• Clerk — account sign-in and authentication (parent email/login).
• Stripe — subscription payments (parent billing).
• Neon — our database, which stores the information above.
• Vercel — app hosting and storage of pre-generated narration audio (no child data).
• Google Workspace — sending our transactional email (contact replies and weekly progress summaries).

Data retention

We keep account and child information while your account is active. When you delete a child profile, all of that child's data is permanently removed. When you delete your account, your parent record and every associated child profile and record are permanently removed. We may retain limited billing records where required by law.

Your choices and rights

• Review your child's information from the parent dashboard.
• Delete a child at any time from the parent area — this erases that child's data.
• Delete your entire account from the parent dashboard (Danger zone), which erases all of your data.
• Contact us to access, correct, or delete information, or to withdraw consent.

Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed parent PINs, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above, and where appropriate notify parents by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
